"The Crossing" Screening and DiscussionWe will be screening The Crossing, a
documentary about gender roles and identity as embraced by an urban
religious community in Boston. After the film, participants will have
the opportunity to explore the role that gender and sexuality play in
shaping their communities and individual relationships. We will review
concepts and vocabulary such as transgender, bisexual, queer and
intersex; the difference between gender identity and sexual
orientation; and how to build positive relationships while respecting
uncertaintly or difference around identity, including what language is
appropriate to use in conversation with someone who's gender identity
and/or sexuality you do not know.

Coming Out To Your Family: A Panel DiscussionJoin a diverse panel from
Boston's gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender speakers' bureau
SpeakOut as they share experiences and answer questions about coming
out to loved ones. We'll discuss the issues involved in coming out to
family and friends, in the workplace, in a religious community, etc.
Varying levels of experience, perspectives, and ranges of belief will
enhance the event and grow the potential for learning and broader
understanding of LGBTQI issues.

Issues of Aging in the LGBT CommunityJoin us for a panel discussion
with representatives from the LGBT Aging Project, the Stonewall
Institute for Lifelong Learning, and the New England Association on HIV
Over Fifty as we discuss the chalanges and opportunities involved in
growing older as a member of the LGBT community. Topics such as
hospice/elder care, social and educational opportunities, and health
will be discussed.
